National Day of Truth and Reconciliation
September 30th, 2021 marks the first-ever National Day of Truth and Reconciliation🧡Today we wear orange to honour over 150,000 First Nations, Métis, and Inuit children who were ripped from their families forced to attend residential schools and those who never made it home from these institutions. Today we also recognize the damage that was done to the ancestors of these victims and to the Indigenous community in Canada.May we all continue to educate ourselves and raise awareness as #AwarenessInspiresAction. This does not stop here- let’s keep the conversation going. What can you do to help?
- Read books by indigenous authors (we recommend Read Phyllis Webstad’s book”The Orange Shirt Theory” )
- Review the 94 Truth and Reconciliation calls to action and commit to at least one
- Watch online evens hosted by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation
- Identify and connect with your local indigenous serving organizations.
